About Street Urban dance Co - based in Surrey and Sussex, UK
Offering Street dance, hip hop and salsa classes to people of all ages
Salsa Latina UK was first set up in 1997 by its founder Andy Moore after several years of dancing across the UK Salsa scene, Andy initially started salsa dancing in 1997 when he was inspired after seeing none other than Richard Marcel (Choreographer from Strictly Come dancing and SYTUCD UK) and his brother Paul Marcel at a Salsa concert in Crawley and started learning the following week.
Street Urban Dance co (formally Salsa Latina) has been in business since 2000 and was originally set up as a salsa dance company by Andy Moore from his love of dancing. After nine years of dancing and teaching salsa across the UK and at major dance events he diverted his skills from salsa to hip-hop, learning from some of the top choreographers and teachers at Pineapple Dance Studios in London.
In 2005 Salsa Latina changed its name to Street Urban Dance Co after changes within the Salsa dance company he was teaching for , Salsa UK. Andy decided it was time start afresh and opened up SUDC's first dance classes in Horley at the Oakwood Sports Centre after a few year of training and dancing at the prestigious Pineapple dance studios in London
Within three months SUDC had already arranged and organised a major dance event in Surrey called 'Day of Dance', setting up over 12 hrs of dance workshops of different dances (ceroc, street, salsa,)hip-hop, tango, merengue, bachata, and more) with over 150 people taking part at the Oakwood Sport Centre.
SUDC welcomes everyone all people whether you are a beginner or a more seasoned dancer, as long as you have the passion to learn to dance , patience and an openness to having fun then great you will be an amazing street dancer. Through 2006 SUDC opened up two new exciting street dance class venues in Crawley, West Sussex and Croydon, Surrey with an ever increasing class numbers rising all wanting to learn some funky new hip-hop street jazz moves to the latest hip-hop ,old skool and funk music. One thing is for sure...you will have FUN!!!
At SUDC classes we try and make sure there is a friendly buzzing atmosphere with an emphasis on having fun, but we also teach dancing techniques as well as how to get your groove on! Remember to be a good dancer it takes time - just like learning to read and write - but it is worth being patient as the benefits are great: improved fitness, body self awareness, improved stamina, flexibility, self confidence and not forgetting new moves to show friends!
